The Unité de soutien SSA Québec: its mission and actions

The vision of the Unité de soutien au système de santé apprenant (SSA) Québec [a provincial unit of the national strategy for patient-oriented research (SPOR) network of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)] is to play an essential role in the continued improvement of the Quebec health system and care trajectories of the population. It supports and catalyzes the establishment of a learning health system in the territories of Quebec’s four Réseaux universitaires intégrés en Santé et Services sociaux based on patient-oriented research. This approach is based on a quintuple objective. We mobilize and support the research, health, and social services communities, with and for the population, so that they can improve the care and services results and the patient experience (1) as well as the health of the population (2) efficiently (3), by ensuring the well-being of human resources in health and social services (4), and equity in health and social services (5). The Unit serves the Réseau de la santé et des services sociaux of Quebec. We help institutions, organizations, decision-makers and human resources in care, research, and social services to work differently. The Unit fulfills its mission, specifically, by developing training and tools, and by offering consultation on various topics via its SSA portal.
