In December 2022, the Unité de soutien SSA Québec held its annual meeting of Francophone and Anglophone Indigenous patient partners circles: a day rich in discussions and several avenues of reflection to make the health system more culturally safe for the Indigenous populations. Catherine Wilhelmy, Samira Amil, Audrey-Lise Rock-Hervieux, Alex McComber, Amelia McGregor and Paul-Yves Weizineau were present.

The Indigenous Patient Circle
The Indigenous Patient Circle will help develop respectful and meaningful relationships with Indigenous patient partners, representing a wide range of communities, nations and social identities. The Circle will be a self-governing, self-determining community that provides a safe place for its members to share and guide the implementation of the Unit’s Indigenous health program. This is a promising project initiated by our colleagues Alex McComber and Marie-Claude Tremblay, PhD.
