On November 12, 2025, the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSBJ) launched a virtual library that catalogs more than two decades of research focused on social and health services from Eeyou Istchee (traditional Cree territory).
This collection of studies is a shared resource and is accessible to all. Its founders created it so that users can learn from the past, inform new initiatives, and inspire the next generation of Eeyou/Eenou researchers.
The library will be especially useful for:
- Students working on school projects,
- Community members interested in exploring past local health and wellness initiatives,
- Researchers interested in building on past findings, and
- Healthcare professionals seeking community-driven insights.
The research library facilitates consultation of studies, access to scientific articles, and citation of results. At launch, the library contains hundreds of studies published from the early 2000s to the present. Studies conducted before the 2000s will be added gradually. In the meantime, the Research Office will make them available upon request.
