Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) are self-reported measures that capture patients’ views of their health status, i.e., their outcomes of care.
The person receiving care is the expert in their own life with their own health condition. They must be included as a partner in care to ensure optimal management of their condition according to their values and preferences. To promote person-centred care, many health and social services professionals invite patients to express their views on their health condition. The use of questionnaires, completed by patients, is necessary to gather this information. The survey of PREMs and PROMs continues after care, in the home.
