New provincial leadership for continuous quality improvement in the health and social services network

The Ministère de la santé et des services sociaux du Québec mandates the Unité de soutien au système de santé apprenant (SSA) Québec to structure and deploy continuous quality improvement (hereinafter referred to as CQI) in order to contribute to the emergence of a learning health system in which the scientific expertise recognized in CQI in Québec allows for the improvement of practices in the network.

Longueuil, Thursday, October 20, 2022 – The Ministère de la santé et des services sociaux du Québec has mandated the Unité de soutien au système de santé apprenant (SSA) Québec to structure and deploy continuous quality improvement (hereinafter referred to as CQI) in order to contribute to the emergence of a learning health system in which the scientific expertise recognized in CQI in Quebec allows for the improvement of practices in the network.

1.8 million by 2025

In order to set up reflexivity activities, skills development and support for changes in practice in community services, the MSSS is making available $600K per year for three years. With its expertise and territorial teams, the Unit will use these funds to :

  1. Helping the MSSS develop its vision for CQI
  2. Helping the system to be reflexive in order to improve
  3. Foster the development of the skills of people who support the use of knowledge and innovations to improve the network
  4. Deploy resources to support practice improvement efforts

A mandate we are up to

The Unit’s mission is to make possible the continuous improvement of the Quebec health system. Its team is composed of highly qualified individuals in partnership, change management, capacity building, data management and data to knowledge in a health and social services context. The Unit also ensures a field presence in the four integrated university health and social services networks and is responsible for coordinating the CQI agents in the health and social services network.

About the Unité de soutien SSA Québec

The Unité de soutien au système de santé apprenant (SSA) Québec is a provincial unit of the national Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). It works to enable continuous improvement in the health system and in the care and services of the population. Its pan-Quebec team mobilizes and supports the research, health and social services communities.
