Marie-Dominique Poirier, a patient partner notably involved as co-director of the Unité de soutien SSA Québec program for Fonds de recherche du Québec fellows, leads the way as the first patient to join the pan-Canadian interdisciplinary research capacity-building program TUTOR-PHC!
I’ve wanted to do this program for a long time, and to my great delight, this year they decided to open the application to patient partners. So I’m the first patient-partner trainee to take part!

The goal of the program is to acquire research knowledge and interdisciplinary teamwork skills, as well as enhanced evidence-based decision-making and leadership skills. I’ll also be taking the opportunity to sketch out a research project on improving the patient and clinician experience following a training activity in a clinical setting.

TUTOR-PHC is a pan-Canadian interdisciplinary research capacity-building program offering mentoring, networking and interdisciplinary team experience. The program runs for one year, from April to May, with a 4-day in-person Symposium, followed by online workshops and discussions.
The program welcomes twelve Canadian and four international trainees, who may come from the following backgrounds: the graduate student community, postdoctoral fellows, resident fellows, mid-career clinicians and decision-makers.
