It was with deep sadness that we learned of the passing of our colleague Pierre Pluye. Professor-researcher emeritus, Pierre was a major contributor to the creation of the Unité de soutien au système de santé apprenant Québec (formerly the Unité de soutien SRAP du Québec). From the very inception of our provincial unit of the national strategy for patient-oriented research (SPOR) network, and right up to the present day, Pierre has systematically responded to invitations and generously become involved in projects that are of great benefit to our healthcare system and to research. He greatly influenced the rise of patient-oriented and participatory research, supported several teams in their understanding of mixed methods, and set up decisive projects to promote research literacy, among other things.
The Unité de soutien SSA Québec team is deeply grateful to him for his unfailing dedication and the high quality of his work. We offer our most sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. A donation will be made by the Unit to Médecins du Monde in Pierre’s memory.
The family will receive condolences on August 25, 2023, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Complexe Funéraire Mont-Royal, 1297 chemin de la Forêt, Outremont, Québec, H2V 2P9.
Funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. the same day at the complex chapel. As Pierre loved the colour blue, the family invites you to wear a bit of it for the occasion.
