Systematic Review of Patient Decision Aids

On the whole, decision aids help indecisive patients more, and improve congruence between choices and personal values. They improve patients' realistic expectations of the advantages and disadvantages of available options.

In 2017, the article Decision aids for people facing health treatment or screening decisions was published. The scientific co-director of the Change Management Axis (Université Laval pole) of the Unité de soutien SSA Québec, France Légaré, is co-author of this text.

Context

An international research group maintains an ongoing systematic review of trials of patient decision aids for treatment or screening decisions using Cochrane review methods.

Goal of the systematic review

To conduct a systematic review of randomized controlled trials of decision aids, for people facing difficult treatment or screening decisions, that aim to improve the quality of decisions and decision making process.
