Clinician burnout in Quebec leads to absenteeism, presenteeism, and staff turnover, further exacerbating the burden on remaining professionals. Because burnout is multifactorial, identifying where to act first is often challenging. This infographic addresses this need by identifying, through a consensus process involving Quebec clinicians and patients, the five factors with the greatest impact on clinician well-being. It supports prioritization of action and enables periodic assessment using existing measurement instruments, while also highlighting important gaps in available tools—particularly the lack of instruments available in French—thereby guiding priorities for instrument adaptation and development.

Organizational Objective

To guide the assessment of the well-being of health professionals in Québec by specifying which factors to measure and how to measure them, with the aim of informing organizational priorities, support strategies, and human resources decision-making.

Clinical Objective

To support clinicians in identifying priority issues related to their own well-being and that of their peers, and to provide them with a concrete starting point for engaging in informed and constructive discussions with clinical managers and decision-makers in order to improve their situation.

Definition: Health professional well-being

A multidimensional state influenced by factors related to the practice environment and organizational context, including work organization, workload and professional demands, as well as the level of support provided.
